10 REASONS WHY YOU CAN’T LOSE SALVATION

BLOG PIC REVISED2.png

1. Ephesians 2:8 - God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. (NLT)

A gift is a thing giving willingly to someone without payment. The plan of salvation was not the sinner's idea. God purposed in his heart to be gracious & generous to provide salvation.

2. Isaiah 46:10 - Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. (NLT)

This verse is communicating to us that God knows the future & has full control over it. So by default, we can be certain that God knew every thought & action we would make before he created us. So the question is if God knew beforehand you would do something to forfeit your salvation then why would he give it to you in the first place? Some may argue that God created Adam & Eve & they still chose to rebel against him. And I would agree with that.

However, let’s consider two bible verses

Revelations 13:8 states And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered before the world was made. (NLT)

Ephesians 1:4 states Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. (NLT)

What these verses are trying to communicate to us is that God knew Adam & Eve & the rest of the world would fall short of his holy standards. So he already had a perfect plan in place to still provide salvation to mankind. God already redeemed those whom he chose for salvation before the world was even made. So when Adam & Eve fell that incident did not alter God’s plan to save sinners.

3. Ephesians 2:1 - Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. (NLT)

This verse is saying that apart from Christ we are dead in our sins. When Adam & Eve sinned in the garden of Eden, we all fell with them. And because we are spiritually dead we are not capable of giving ourselves spiritual life. This would be equivalent to someone who has physically died. It would be impossible for a dead person to give themselves life again. So we have no say in the matter of whether our salvation is given or taken away because we are dead anyway. A dead person has no say in who plans his/her funeral.

4. John 6:44 - For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up. (NLT)

This verse is saying we can’t come to Jesus unless God draws us to him. So how could our salvation be dependant upon us on whether we keep it or lose it if God is the one who draws us to Jesus?

5. Romans 8:38-39 - And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)

These verses are saying that nothing can separate us from God once he saves/redeems us. It would be foolish to say that all these things listed above can’t separate us from God. But the only exception is, you can decide to walk away because you no longer want salvation. So in essence that would be saying God has full control until you decide otherwise. And then that also begs the question who’s in control then of your salvation you or God?

6. Philippians 1:6 - And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. (NLT)

This verse is saying once God grants you salvation He will complete the sanctification work in you. Notice the verse says God started the work & not us. So how can we lose our salvation if God has promised to complete the work in us? God is not like us. He doesn’t promise something & then later changes his mind. To back this up consider the following bible verse below

Malachi 3:6 - “I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed. (NLT)

7. Romans 3:11 No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. (NLT)

If we truly get an understanding of this bible verse, then we should conclude there is no way to lose your salvation because we were never seeking to get or lose salvation from the start. This verse is saying no one is seeking after God, we do not have the capacity because apart from Christ we are spiritually dead.

8. John 10:28-30 - I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me,  for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else.[a] No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”(NLT)

These verses are saying the moment we are giving the gift of eternal life, we will never perish. Also, we can never be snatched away from Jesus. Why? Because God has given us to Christ. We can’t lose our salvation because we are not in control of who snatches it away.

9. John 3:1-3 There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. 2 After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.” Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again,[a] you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” (NLT)

These verses provide so much insight regarding the security of our salvation. If we look deeper into the context of what Jesus is saying to Nicodemus. Jesus is giving him an analogy of what happens when a person is given salvation. (aka born-again) The reason Jesus compares salvation with being born again is that he wants Nicodemus to understand the miraculous transformation that takes place when God grants someone salvation. Jesus compares salvation to giving birth. When a woman gives birth to a child, the child has no say in the birthing process. When the child is finally pushed out of the mother’s womb. The child can’t later decide they want to be unborn & enter the mother’s womb again. If we understand this physical reality. Then we should also understand it in the spiritual reality. The moment we are granted the gift of salvation, we are born-again. So, just like the child can’t decide he/she wants to be un-born physically. Likewise, we can’t decide to be un-born spiritually. To back this up consider the following bible verses below

2 Corinthians 5:17 - This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (NLT)

10. 1 John 2:19 - These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us. (NLT)

Individuals who oppose the view of eternal security question how can this doctrine be true if many professing Christians turn their back on the church & no longer follow Christ. This verse above explains why this happens. People who once profess Christ & then turn their backs on him later in life never had salvation from the start. By default, this verse is also saying the people who remain in Christ stay because they were the ones God granted salvation to. We are unable to come to Jesus unless God draws us. To back this up consider the following verses below.

John 6:64-65 “But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.  And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”

Lastly, I like to submit that if you could lose your salvation you would.
